Central Environmental Authority (Ministry of Environment)

We are looking for qualified, experienced, dynamic, self-motivated, career-oriented team players to fill the following vacancies.

The age limit will not be applicable to applicants already in the state service. Proficiency in English, familiarity with government regulations and computer literacy are essential prerequisites. Applicants who are in the Government / Semi Government Sector should forward their applications through Heads of the Departments /Institutes.

Assistant Director (Legal) - (MM 1-1)

Qualifications & Experience

External

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Law which is recognized by the U.G.C and enrolled as Attorney –at- Law. AND
  • A minimum five (05) year post qualifying experience at the bar as a Practicing Lawyer

Internal (1 or 2)

  • Having obtained the qualifications required by the external candidate above OR
  • Five (05) years satisfactory service in Legal Officer at Junior Manager level in CEA

Age: Should not be less than 22 years and not more than 45 years

Salary Scale: Rs. 91,690.00 – 10 x 2,480.00 - 15 x 3,450.00 – 168,240.00
As per the Management Services Circular No. 01/2025 of 25.03.2025 and its Schedule ll.
Salary step with effect from 01.01.2026 – 81,710 /-
Salary step with effect from 01.01.2027 – 91,690 /-

  • Should be a citizen of Sri Lanka.
  • Should be physically and mentally fit to discharge the duties of the post well and to serve in any part of the Island.
  • Should be of excellent moral character

  • In addition to the above salary, Rs. 17,800.00 of cost-of-living allowance is paid.

Recruitment Procedure

Shortlisted applicants based on required qualification & experience, will be called for a written competitive examination and / or a structured interview as per the approved SOR and selection will be based on the merit list.

Nature of the Appointment

Permanent with entitlement to Employee Provident Fund and Employee Trust Fund.
